PEACE WILL GUEARD YOUR HEART
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
In 1 Timothy 6:8 we read, “If we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.”
Are you content by only food and clothing? We’re not, are we? We are bent by the pressure of financial debts. Half of everything we own we don’t even need. When was the last time you had a swim in that bright blue swimming pool? And that tennis court where the grass grows through the cracks? We buy all these things, but we never use them. And then we worry about the financial costs, and we stress because we can’t afford it.
Listen to what the Lord says, “People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evil.” 1 Timothy 6:9-10
The Lord is not saying that money is evil. Money can lead us away from God. 1 Timothy 6:10 says. “Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” The love of money steals our peace of mind. That is why we have to focus on the things that will last forever – godliness and contentment.
Turn back to God. He will guard your heart and mind with His pure love, peace and contentment.
Lord, guard my heart against the love of money. I want to worship You, and You alone. Amen
