A Heart Challenge

Pastor Steve (CHCC Olivet) came last month and shared a message called “Heart Condition.” I highly recommend visiting their website (chccmi.com) and listening to the audio version of his message!

He concluded his message with a challenge that I would like to reiterate. If you missed the challenge or got caught up in the busyness of your week, I would like to challenge you again!

Challenge: For the next 7 days, begin your mornings by praying Psalm 139:23-24. Ask Jesus to show you the blockages that are lurking in your heart. Ask Him to give you the strength to respond in obedience to the changes He wants you to make. And finally, ask Him for the faith to trust that He knows better than you do, what will lead to a healthy heart condition in your life!

A challenge like this may stir up all kinds of emotions, but please take time to do this! I tend to ask, yet not take the time to listen for a response. A lot of this has to do with fear. Fear of failing my Creator. Fear of the changes I need to make to get my heart right before my Savior. Being told what you are doing wrong can hurt - but He is kind to us. He gently guides us back to right relationship with Him.

I pray that our hearts remain soft and ready for His correction and guidance. Jesus, change us. Get into the deepest, darkest, and hardest places in our hearts! For your glory. Amen.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” (Psalm 139:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

In Him,

Katie Karlson
