The Heart of the Father

“Jesus, Your name is power

It's breath, and living water

And Your Spirit guides me

To the heart of the Father

Let Your praise ring louder

Everyday and every hour

'Cause Your Spirit guides me

To the heart of the Father”

-The Heart of the Father by Ryan Ellis

This song is beautiful. Whenever I hear it on the radio the volume goes up and my heart is drawn to worship.

The other day I had an ugly mom moment in the car: like all the things unkind and loud, ugh. After my outburst I instantly went to tears out of regret and embarrassment. Instead of turning to Jesus and repenting, my heart hardened, I went inward, and it got dark, quickly!

This song came on the radio and I chose to turn it off and again turned away from the One who loves me even in my worst moments. He was still tugging and I shut it out and off. I chose a hard heart because of shame and pride. This led to thoughts I don’t want to share and a miserable, depressing morning.

The reason I share this is because I am ok today because of Him! He didn’t stop pursuing my hard and prideful heart and He never will, no matter what! I finally chose repentance and the light consumed the dark. Joy overcame the sorrow. Peace lifted the weight.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

‭‭John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭16:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

His Spirit guides us directly to the Father. Allow Him to penetrate your heart. The freedom and life that comes is overwhelming in all the good ways.

He is breath and living water - only He can satisfy. May your heart be drawn to worship the One who deserves all praise.

Thank you for Your kindness and patience, Jesus.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In Him,

Katie - thank you so much for your vulnerability!

We have ALL been there, I promise. There are no perfect moms any more than there are any perfect kids.

I know, without a doubt, that by leaning on God's strength to make it through the tough days (and really every day is tough in some way) it does get better!
